Fruit Picking Experience

Fruit picking is one of the most popular activities in Japan that you can enjoy as a family and for good reason: with warm summers, clean air and great soil, Niseko and its neighbouring towns produce some of the tastiest fruits. Walking around the orchards and picking your favourite fruit off the trees, a short day trip to these places guarantee good taste, good health, and a good time. Recommended Places for Fruit Picking
  • Niseko Tada Farm (Niseko Town)
    Famous for its strawberries, Niseko Tada Farm is just a 15-minute drive away from Setsu Niseko. The farm usually opens from late June to mid-July where everyone is welcome to some strawberry picking.

  • Nitori Tourist Orchard (Yoichi)
    Located in Yoichi, an hour away from Niseko, the orchard offers an eat-all-you-can fruit picking course, with no time limit, from May to August. Depending on the season, visitors can pick different fruits including cherries, peaches, blueberries, and even walnuts and chestnuts in autumn.
    Available for picking: Strawberries, Cherries, Plum, Blueberries, Prunes, Grapes, Apple, Peaches, Pears, Walnuts, and Chestnuts.

  • Cherry Mountain Farm (Niki)
    Located in Niki, a popular fruit picking location, is Cherry Mountain Farm that grows cherries, grapes, prunes, plums, and apples. Currently, the farm has about 5,000 trees - 4,000 of which are cherry trees - that are available for visitors for an eat-all-you-can fruit picking experience for an unlimited time from June to October.

  • Takashina Tourist Orchard (Sobetsu)
    Stop by for some fruit picking on your way to Lake Toya at this fruit farm. Located in Sobetsu Town, Takashina Tourist Orchard starts their fruit picking experience from July when cherries are ready for harvest. Other fruits will also be available for picking depending on the season until late November.

  • Fruit Farm Hamada-en (Sobetsu)
    Fruit Farm Hamada-en is home to the oldest apple tree in Sobetsu, planted in 1890, and continues to grow various fruits in its farm even today. From June to October, visitors are welcome to pick fruits including strawberries, cherries, grapes, blueberries, and more.

  • Jozankei Farm (Jozankei)
    An hour away from Niseko, Jozankei Farm in Sapporo is an orchard with numerous family-friendly activities including fruit picking. Being one of the largest fruit farms in Japan, they grow a variety of berries and other fruits like apples, pears, and kiwi berries that will be available for fruit picking from June to early November. They also have agricultural learning activities such as planting seedlings and creating flower beds. 
    Available for picking: Strawberries, Cherries, Plums, Haskap Berries (Honeyberries), Juneberries, Redcurrants, Blackberries, Prunes, Blueberries, Peaches, Apples, Chestnuts, Grapes, Walnuts, Pears, Quince (Marmelo), Kiwi Berries
